Sports

Try a new sport in a safe and welcoming environment or work on mastering a skill while teaming up with others. The approach to sports here is inclusive and non-traditional. Chart your own path to health while gaining physical education credits toward graduation. And it’s about having fun! Join the beach volleyball team’s Friday competitions, start the day with yoga, or arrange for an independent athletic activity breaking a sweat doing something you love.

Seasonal Sports

Play intramural club sports against other alternative education high schools. Sports clubs are built on the enthusiasm of our students and led by a staff member. Most popular is fall beach volleyball, when on Friday mornings the team heads to the nets at Main Beach to compete, and to celebrate a win with an ice cream cone at a nearby shop. Students return to afternoon classes and agree to make up work as instructed. Seasonal club sports can include basketball in winter, and soccer and softball in spring, based on numbers of participants.

Yoga

Start the mornings on a mat, perhaps outdoors on our open deck or in the fields if weather permits, moving indoors when the rainy season begins or as the temperature drops. Learn the biology of the body as it is utilized in yoga while practicing the basic positions and improving strength, balance and flexibility.
