Coming to Cypress was the best decision I ever could’ve made for my education. It has the academic structure and learning environment that I needed to succeed in school, while also having a strong sense of community. Cypress has come to feel like family, and I know that the staff will always have my back. Out of the three high schools I’ve been to, Cypress is and always will be my favorite..”

“The students and teachers at Cypress have inspired me to be the best person I can be. The staff has supported and encouraged me to thrive academically and socially, and it’s a really special thing when a teacher is able to feel more like a friend than a boss.”

“My daughters came to Cypress High School after K-8 private schools and have found the school’s approach to education and its social dynamic to be superior to their paid-tuition experiences. The whole of this vibrant and welcoming community - teachers, staff, students - is kind and caring and real.”

“I came to Cypress as a freshman. This has been the best choice I have made so far. Coming to Cypress I’ve been seen by my teachers as a human with my own struggles rather than a student. This is something that I value because I know that my teachers care for who I am and not just my learning. I've made long-lasting friendships at Cypress including one with the person who created this website, Anna la Banana. Shout out to the teachers that made me feel confident in their classes!”

“Every aspect of Cypress High School is nurturing, accepting, and loving. After feeling extremely overwhelmed and depressed, I turned to Cypress High school in hopes of refuge and found a safe haven of inclusivity and support. From the teachers to the students to the general atmosphere, Cypress High school provides the loving environment every adolescent craves, and deserves.”

“My son transferred to Cypress for his junior year of high school, after crumbling under the pressure at an academically challenging college prep public school in Santa Cruz. Cypress gave him a chance to relax more and make his own choices about the rigor of his education. His being at Cypress for his last two years of HS was such a relief for our whole family. The school is so warm and welcoming, and everyone is approachable and communicative. Students are supported in whatever ways they need, emotional or academic, and accepted for who they are. He’s now doing well in his freshman year at college, and we’ll always be thankful to Cypress and Megan Tresham for their dedication to students in our community.”

“I enjoyed being a student here. Sure I joined later into my senior year, but I certainly enjoyed it more than my last schools. I originally went to Aptos High for my freshman year, in which I did not enjoy it at all. I switched to online school since it was during the pandemic so it was not a great time. I went to online school for my sophomore and junior years. It was good at first and the teachers were really nice, but it eventually wasn’t for me. So it was back to finding a suitable school. Then my mother found this school, Cypress. It was a small school and I also had a long time friend that I haven’t seen in a while. It was accepting of everyone for who they were. It seemed like a good place so then I started coming here. Everyone was super nice and supportive towards me. Teachers were always willing to help on anything that they could. Also had classes that would be helping in later life, like economics or senior seminar. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience that I had at this school and recommend people trying to find a high school to go to come here.”
